VS infared Sherman Tank Video

Well I went to my local RC shop the other day and saw this little set for about $130.CAD. It's a smaller scale than I would normally use but Im getting impatient waiting for the Hen Long 1/16 sherman tank to come so I figured what the hey.
I guess one of the things I noticed right away was the lightly weathered paint job. It's nicely done. This model boasts details good enough to display as a static model. And it does that just fine. Of course what I want to do is play with it!
The tank is part of the infared battle system line that is available, not the airsoft model. I may actually pick up another one just to battle with. There was a nice Russian T-72 tank there that I might consider one of these days. When these things hit each other it disables the other tank and flashes red lights to simulate explosions and the tanks vibrate. Of course since I only have the one right now I can't show you that, check youtube for some examples of the tanks battling. Apparently up to 6 tanks can do battle at a time.
The package comes complete with the tank and the 3 band radio. The tank has 3 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds. It also has 2 trim settings for turning left and right. There is also 2 trim settings for making the tank rotate. The turret turns, and the muzzle goes up and down at your control. One nice feature when you fire the cannon the gun recoils as does the whole tank itself. There is sound from the cannon and the machine gun when fired. When the tank is running there is a decent engine sound, volume adjustment is under the tank. However when it stops moving the engine sound goes off, unlike my Pershing model or my Stuart tank. A small thing but it's a nice effect to have. The tank has independent suspension on the bogeys and a plastic track. It handles outdoor terrain pretty well for a little RC unit. I was actually pretty impressed how it tackled the terrain. Oh almost forgot to mention, that the tank also has white led lights at the front and red at the rear. The tank runs off of 8 AA batteries while the radio uses 6 AA batteries. I use rechargeable batteries and find I have good run times with them. All in all if you don't mind the smaller scale of these tanks they are fun to play with and do battle. The details are nice and the overall look of the model is well done. I highly recommend these units.
Hope you enjoy the video.
